About

Hi!
My name is Kim Hotterbeekx. I’m an artist based in the south of the Netherlands, in the beautiful city of Maastricht.
I love working with different types of media, such as soft materials, ink and charcoal drawings and water color.
Natural surroundings and fantasy stories & folklore are theme’s that I find incredibly interesting.

In 2016 I graduated from the Maastricht Art Academy (MIA) as a filmmaker. After that I started to explore different types of media and techniques. I also started to present art workshops and realized that I love teaching children and adults alike about different techniques and art styles. As a result, I started my studies as an arts teacher at the Fine Arts and Education (FADE) studies at the Maastricht Art Academy. In 2023 I graduated cum laude with my graduation project.
This project revolved around my Slovenian background. I created 12 tapestries that depicted my search for my Slovenian roots and the relationship I had with my grandmother. I fell in love with working with soft materials and have been combining drawing and ebroidery ever since. You can find more about this project in the “portfolio” section.

My main focus is telling stories through art, and looking to expand a community that loves hearing and telling tales as well! If you ever want connect, please don’t hesitate to send an e-mail or reach out on socials!
